Ten of thousands of People's Alliance for Democracy supporters joined the massive street protest at the symbolic Democracy monument. The five key PAD leaders led the protestors to Government House where they plan to continue rallying until 7 a.m. on Monday. However police have formed a blockade to prevent the PAD from advancing pass the UN headquarters. Just before midnight the PAD decided to set up a makeshift stage at the Makawan bridge. There have been multiple reports of confrontations between PAD supporters and the anti-PAD group. Government coalition parties submitted a motion on a charter rewrite to Parliament President Chai Chidchob earlier last week. The motion will kick start a Parliamentary debate on the matter during next month’s extraordinary House session. The People’s Alliance for Democracy stands by its earlier pledge to protest against the move. In addition to the mass street protest, the PAD also plans to impeach MP’s who have officially submitted the Constitution amendment motion by collecting 20,000 signatures. |
