| Democrat Secretary General Confident in Holding On to Post |
| UPDATE : 9 February 2010 |
The deputy prime minister in charge of security affairs has expressed confidence that he will not be replaced by someone else as the Democrat secretary general.
Speculations have surfaced that the ruling Democrat Party may change its secretary general from Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban to someone else due to difference of opinions with Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
Suthep today commented that he is not upset by the rumor as he believes it will not happen.
He noted that the baseless rumors originated from the opposition Pheu Thai Party and was aimed at inciting conflicts within the Democrat Party.
The deputy premier further said that it is normal for a party to see differing views as all members can express their opinions freely in line with democracy.
However, he confirms that differences among party members do not signify a conflict.
At Government House today, representatives from the Thai Health Promotion Foundation met the prime minister to present red roses ahead of the Valentine's Day.
They also asked the prime minister to write a message on a giant card made by the foundation to promote good social values for the special day.
