The Patthalung governor has ordered a pause on the distribution of the second lot of flood relief kits, following concern that they may contain rotten canned fish as the first lot did. Meanwhile, Patthalung's flood-affected residents dumped rotten canned fish outside City Hall in protest.

Flood affected residents in Muang District and Kuan Khanun District of Phattalung province dumped three sacks containing some 300 cans of fish in front of its city hall to air their disgruntlement with the authorities' distribution of rotten goods.

The province's officials were later ordered to remove the canned fish and bring it to the Social Development Office for delivery back to the Social Development and Human Security Ministry.

Phattalung Governor Suthep Komolpamorn revealed that he has ordered a halt on the distribution of the second lot of 3,500 flood relief kits sent from the ministry as they are suspected to contain Chao Doi canned fish that might be rotten as the first lot was.

He said the flood situation in the area has returned to normal and the second lot of relief kits is still kept at the province's office.
