PPP sets up center to monitor PAD rally around the clock
UPDATE : 31 May 2008

The ruling People Power Party announced it will establish a center to catch up with news reports on the People's Alliance for Democracy rally's and expresses that the party strongly supports the policy of the Prime Minister.

People Power Party's Spokesperson Kuthep Saikrachang revealed that the PPP is preparing to establish a center to study the People's Alliance for Democracy's movement and that the news will be reported constantly by the party's analysts.

Kuthep says that the analyst team is led by many PPP senior MPs, such as Sunai Chulapongsatorn, Jatuporn Prompan and Suthin Klangsaeng who will rotate on reporting the PAD's movements everyday.

The ruling PPP said that it supports the policy of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej to crack down on the PAD rally, adding that the PAD gathering is generating severe traffic problems. However, the PPP said that the police will look into the policy execution. However, the PPP MPs stated that they believe the police will rely on non-aggressive measures with rally-goers.

The MP group says that the speech of PM Samak Sundaravejin which he delivered his idea to tackle the PAD rally is agreeable, as was the Interior Minister's idea, especially as it confirmed to the public the government's standpoint that it will not yield to mob rule.

Kuthep gaves his comments on the PAD's core leader Chamlong Srimuang, stating that Chamlong has a strong intention to carry out the protest as he was once the rival politician to Prime Minister Samak when the two ran in the Bangkok's gubernatorial election in the past.

He added that the PAD continues to barrage the PPP government by relying on the opposition Democrat Party's criticism on the government's performance.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama stated that he supports the Prime Minister's speech on the government's policy to handle the crowd. However, Noppadon said that the plan should support non-violent tactics to counter the crowd.

Noppadon also dismissed the rumors about a possible coup to be brought on by the ongoing PAD rally. The Foreign Minister said that the government's policy to handle the PAD Rally has nothing to do with deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinnawwatra.
