UPDATE : 1 October 2008

The Prime Minister has met with the Privy Council president earlier this evening. He had said earlier this week that he will find an opportunity to meet with the respected statesman.

At 5 pm today, Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat traveled from his temporary office at Donmuang Airport to meet with Privy Council President General Prem Tinsulanonda, as scheduled at his Si Sao Tewes Residence at 6 pm. Somchai stopped at the Royal Turf Club for about ten minutes for dinner before traveling pass the People’s Alliance for Democracy anti-government rally at Government House.

Somchai was accompanied by his secretary Chusak Sirinin and Defence Chief-of-Staff Air Chief Marshal Sumet Pohmanee, a classmate of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra in the pre-cadet academy, as well as his wife and Thaksin's sister Yaowapa Wongsawat.

They were welcomed by General Prem’s close aide Vice Admiral Pajoon Tamprateep, who invited only Somchai to go in and meet General Prem.

At about 6.30 pm, Somchai left General Prem's house. General Prem was seen walking the PM to his car with a smile on his face.

Somchai told reporters briefly that General Prem gave him good advise and said they did not discuss the People's Alliance for Democracy but refused to disclose if they talked about Thaksin.
