The Crime Suppression commander reveals that a taskforce has been set up to investigate if the PAD rally should be regarded as a terrorist act. Crime Suppression Division commander Colonel Pongpat Chayaphan commented on the terrorism charge which has been filed against both the first and second generation PAD leaders. Pol Maj Gen Pongpat says the charge is a serious one and will be carefully investigated by a special taskforce. However Pongpat declined to comment on whether the PAD's closures of Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang airports could or should be construed as terrorist acts, saying his opinion could influence the taskforce's conclusion. The Crime Suppression Police commander then gave an example of what could be regarded as a terrorist act. He cited an example of a homicide, whereby a murder is committed and the body is buried or concealed. However for the murder to be considered as a terrorist act, the body would be decapitated or its head cut off and put up for display in a public area to create fear and terror. A progovernment group led by Dr Weng Tochirakarn earlier this week filed a complaint with Crime Suppression Police calling on them to press terrorism charges against the People's Alliance for Democracy for besieging Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports. Weng and Dr Sant Hattirat, and Prateep Ungsomtham Hata accused 12 PAD leaders of committing terrorism from November 25 to December 3. The first and second generation leaders have been accused of breaching Article 135/1 (2) for causing grave damage to the public transport system and infrastructure, causing unrest and terror among the public. |
