Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi attended the Cannes’ International Film Festival in France, where she praised the Thai film industry for having made huge improvements and becoming increasingly unconventional.

The princess advised Thai film producers to be independent and not to copy other nations, because the Thai-ness has been the most unique selling point.

Princess Ubolratana gave an interview with a Reuters reporter about Thailand's Entertainment Expo 2009, which will be held at Paragon Hall of Siam Paragon department store from September 10th to 20th.

She mentioned that the event will have an archive of works in the film, music, television, and computer industries.

The princess also talked about her two new films, in which she will star in a leading role; a historical film ‘The Legend of the Queen,’ and an scientific action movie ‘My Best Bodyguard’.

She said her intention is to attract foreign producers to film in Thailand, adding that in 2008, there were 28 foreign movies filmed in Thailand. Most were from Japan and European countries, which have profited more than 2 billion baht.

The princess mentioned further that her current film, ‘Oriental Eyes’, is being filmed in Switzerland. She said her inspiration for acting came from Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.
