UPDATE : 19 February 2010

The private sector promises to encourage the use of biodiesel B3 and B5 as directed by the government, as the policy will cut energy imports by 10 billion baht per year.

The Chairman of the Biodiesel Manufacturer Association of Thailand, Sanin Triyanont, has confirmed that the private sector is ready to support the government's policy to replace biodiesel B2 with biodiesel B3 by February, as the scheme will benefit biodiesel promotion in the kingdom.

Concerning a proposal to promote biodiesel B5 in 2011, the chairman anticipated that the project will increase biodiesel production to 2.5 million liters a day and will lower imported energy by 10 billion baht a year.

As for raw palm oil production, he revealed that 1.4 million tons was reported in 2009, while 1.8 million tons are expected to be produced this year.

One million tons will be used in the kingdom, while the rest will be for biodiesel production and export.
