Home Pro to Hold Expo Amid Concern about Red Shirt Rally
UPDATE : 3 March 2010

The Home Product Center, operator of Home Pro specialty stores, aims to attract 700,000 visitors at its upcoming expo, scheduled to take place at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani from March 12th to the 21st.

Home Product Center assistant managing director Nut Jaritchana said his company aims to attract 700,000 visitors and generate 650 million baht in sales at the 11th Home Pro Expo.

Nut revealed that his company spent about 100 million baht to hold this event. Three hundred home product makers and distributors as well as ten financial institutes have agreed to participate.

Nut said there is cause for concern as the expo is scheduled to take place at the same time the supporters of Democratic Alliance against Dictatorship or DAAD will stage a mass rally.

However, he believes those interested will still attend the event and that violence is unlikely to occur.

If violence does occur, he said, it will be contained to certain areas of Bangkok and should not affect the event.

In anticipation to the 11th Home Pro Expo, Home Product Center has prepared details on travel and traffic to provide convenience for visitors. Promotions will be revealed at the expo to encourage consumers to spend.

To raise awareness of the expo, the company will continute its public relations campaign.

Home Product Center plans to push for products that are expected to satisfy consumer needs, and the timing of future marketing events will be carefully calculated to avoid any chance of incidents.

Security measures will be introduced to reinforce the confidence of visitors amid the current political uncertainty.

Security measures at Home Pro branches have also been strengthened.

More CCTVs will be installed and research of past protests at department stores will be conducted.
