To Serve and Protect?
Monday, July 27, 2009
It is a universal truth that police forces worldwide are generally disliked and distrusted by the public. It's sad but they have no one to blame but themselves!
Obamark???? Yeah, right!!!!
Friday, July 17, 2009
On December 17, 2008, Abhisit Vejjajiva officially became Thailand's youngest prime minister from an elected system. 34 days later, Barack Obama was inaugurated as the United States' first African-American president. No one could help but see similarities between the two. Both were young, new generation politicians who offered hope to their electorate...hope that had been lost in two very different countries facing very different struggles. The Thai media was fast to call Abhisit “Obamark” saying he would indeed bring “CHANGE” to Thailand.
ME? A TERRORIST?
Friday, July 10, 2009
Well, it's certainly nothing I had ever thought I'd be accused of. Come on....terrorism? You hear about it in the newspapers. You see it on international news stations. You never think the concept would ever hit so close to home!
Singapore: Tourist Haven or Tourist Trap?
Wednesday, July 08, 2009
Although we are on the verge of feuding with Cambodia, hence the title Cambodia VS Thailand should be more appropriate, I recently had a chance to visit Singapore for a weekend for pleasure so I would like to write about this city-state which is trying so hard to attract tourists and compete with well-known destinations in Asia like Hong Kong, Macau or even Thailand.
Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover, Don't Judge an Animal by Its Name
Wednesday, July 08, 2009
To varying degrees, Thais are mostly a superstitious bunch. I said that in the nicest possible meaning. I, myself, am superstitious but not to a point where I'd have a mental breakdown if I were to cut my hair on a Wednesday. According to an ancient Thai belief, it's simply bad luck to get a haircut on Wednesday because it's the day of growth and development.
The First Family
Wednesday, July 08, 2009
In Thailand we’ve had Constitutional Democracy for many decades and almost 30 prime ministers but none of those prime ministers’ families are very prominent.
You Gentleman, You!
Friday, July 03, 2009
In the television industry, when anyone talks about how popular a show is, the question always centers on how good the ratings are. It's a simple, but painful fact. No matter how important the information you have to communicate is, if you can't find an entertaining way to present it, viewers simply tune off.
The Deadly Quest for Beauty
Friday, June 26, 2009
On Thursday June 25, we were all shocked by the news of a death of a young woman who might have died from diet pill overdose. The news, though shocking, barely made a splash in the news industry. That's because most people are aware of how dangerous diet pills are. But what's even more shocking is the fact that for those who're desperate enough, they are willing to pay the price to be skinnier, to have straighter nose or to have lighter skin.
When Hell Freezes Over
Friday, June 26, 2009
I really can't help but write about the week-long rumors that suggest of talks between the Democrat and Pheu Thai parties to set up a different government coalition!
Higher Standards Expected from Politicians
Thursday, June 25, 2009
The issue of 16 senators being singled out by the Election Commission for holding shares in private companies that are concessionaires of the state or are media outlets has been hotly debated.
